Kid Laroi realizes he can’t fix you with A Cold Play

Kid Laroi has been trickling out new songs and teasers for the new project with absolute slappers on offer. Last week he had put out the highly anticipated “She Don't Need To Know” which is so 2000s-coded but it works. It reminds me of the ‘Senorita’ Justin Timberlake era. Iconic.

Today though, he dropped the follow-up to that with A Cold Play - No Chris Martin in sight.

The song opens with some hard-hitting clean drums and moody pads to color the narrative in. “Who was I to think that I could fix you, baby?” is the first line we hear and it's followed by a story and melodies that feel conversational, personal and even a bit confessional, too.

The song talks about some of the realizations and clarity that comes to you after you finally got some distance from someone you were a lot closer to.

There's accountability and an admission. It’s someone they still love and still miss sometimes, even if they've both moved on.

This is the kind of song I knew I could listen to over and over again after the first lesson. I'm a sucker for the delivery and the melodies in this one! That pre-chorus melody is insane.

So, if you’re looking for a new song to add to your daily rotation playlist this weekend, this is the one!

Who knows? Maybe A Cold Play could fix you.
