Dewald de la Rey, also known by his online moniker "animator.boi," is a multi-award winning South African animator and director with over a decade of experience in the animation industry.
In late 2012, he founded E.I.E Productions, a boutique animation studio based in Cape Town, South Africa. Under his leadership, the studio has specialized in various forms of animation, including motion graphics and 2D animation, delivering high-quality content to a diverse clientele.
Throughout his career, Dewald has been involved in several notable projects. He served as the director for the 2017 musical short film "Infant Annihilator - Blasphemian" and animated the 2022 music video "Bloody Valentine" for Ice Nine Kills. Additionally, he has worked on animated pilot episodes, mobile games and even launched his own 2D animation course for beginners in early 2025.

Virtually Impossible is an animated pilot I created that premiered on Cartoon Hangover, the popular animation channel by Frederator Studios—the team behind hits like Adventure Time and Bee and PuppyCat.
The show dives into a chaotic, hyper-digital world where nothing works quite the way it’s supposed to, and the characters are constantly battling glitches, rogue AI, and absurd virtual logic. Packed with fast-paced comedy, surreal twists, and sharp visual storytelling, Virtually Impossible is a love letter to the weird side of the internet and a glimpse into my unique animation style.
